About World Food Safety Day

In the United States, 48 million people will experience foodborne illness and about 3,000 people die every year (CDC). Globally, an estimated 600 million people — almost 1 in 10 people in the world — get sick after eating contaminated food and 420,000 people die every year (WHO).

“Investment in consumer food safety education has the potential to reduce foodborne disease and return savings of up to ten-fold for each dollar invested.” (WHO FAO)

The Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE) supports U.S.-based health and food safety educators with free resources to promote World Food Safety Day in their communities. Learn how to engage with PFSE and take action now.
